Moroccan Trilobites All specimens are from the Eifellan stage of the Middle Devonian period which was approx. 365 Million years ago. They all come from one group of rocks called the Hamar Laghdad Limestone and are likely to be from the Efroud region in Morocco. Trilobites in this region have been collected over the last 10 years. All the names are based on similar trilobites from other countries; the Czech and Slovak republic (Bohemian district) and southern Germany (Eifellian district) both regions have the closest related faunas. The Trilobites found from this region are: Gerastos (similar to Gerastos bohemicus from the Czech and Slovak republic). Scabriscutellum (very similar to Scabriscutellum billingsi from the Czech and Slovak republic). Odontchile (similar to Odontchile spinifera of southern Germany). Leonaspis (Kettneraspis) (similar to Kettneraspis pigra from the Czech and Slovak republic). Greenops or Metacanthia (may be a new genus as it is similar to both from elsewhere). Otarion (Cyphaspis) (similar to Otarion ceratophthalmus from the Czech and Slovak republic).
